Night on Broadway 2023 – Songs of the Silver Screen
By Winter Park High School Choral Department

This year's production will include music from movie musicals, both old and new, including The Greatest Showman, La La Land, Hello Dolly, The Sound of Music, and much more!

Night on Broadway began 23 years ago in memory of a student named Tyler Rush who was killed in a tragic car accident. He was a kind and passionate young man who loved Broadway, so the Choral Department prepared a Broadway concert in his honor. Since then, we have added sets, props, costumes, microphones, and more to make it the production it is today.

Over the course of one month, students engage in intense rehearsals in singing, acting, and dancing under the direction of choral directors Hollie Pratt and Andrew Campbell as well as Broadway veteran and artist-in-residence, Sue Delano. Each year at the end of the show, the cast (composed of hundreds of high school students) honors Tyler’s memory with their exclusive performance of “There Is Only One You,” an original song by Broadway composers Jason Howland and Dani Davis.

Additionally, all proceeds benefit the Tyler Rush Memorial Scholarship Fund, which has awarded over $275,000 to graduating high school chorus students! We’ve now also an Endowment with over $100,000 so that we will one day be able to produce our own scholarships.
